[Freeport, Grand Bahama Island, Wednesday, 22nd July 2015] –   With an exciting and successful start on Monday, July 13, hundreds of young people are enjoying the Royal Bahamas Police Force Summer Camp Youth Program on Grand Bahama, Bimini, and Abaco.  Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police, Officer in Charge of Grand Bahama and the Northern Bahamas District, Emerick Seymour, Sr. says “young people are in fact the future, therefore the RBPF aims to do all it can to positively impact them.  We see the engagement of our nation’s youth as a priority.”  The huge number of participants this year demanded multiple venues and added resources.  Hutchison Port Holdings Business Units is being lauded by the RBPF for  a “significant and timely donation” to assist in making the summer activities possible.

In a statement issued by HPH confirming its corporate contribution to the camps, Godfrey Smith, CEO, said; “HPH Business Units enjoy a long standing and productive relationship with the Royal Bahamas Police Force.  Like the RBPF, we believe that at the very core of creating progressive communities is the positive development of young people. This summer program serves as a testament of our shared belief.  We are particularly pleased that these camps cover the entire Grand Bahama Island, Bimini and parts of Abaco. The Police Summer Program is a noble reminder that Police work transcends making arrests only: it is an action oriented demonstration of the RBPF’s commitment to form cordial and meaningful relationships.  We are delighted to have partnered with the Police to ensure the success of these camps being enjoyed by so many talented and ambitious young people.  We salute the organizers, offer our encouragement to all participants to strive for excellence, and pledge our continued corporate involvement.”

According to ASP Hilton Cash of the Royal Bahamas Police Force, well noted for his leadership and dedication related to youth programs, the camps are designed to give young people a diverse experience for three weeks; music, dance, academics, sports, and field trips.  Cash noted that donations from the likes of Hutchison and others go a long way to make this summer program possible.
